Profile

Sam has worked on a range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters.

His experience as a patent litigator encompasses a variety of technology areas, including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical devices, telecommunications and battery technology.  He has experience in the UK before the Patents Court, Court of Appeal and Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, as well as assisting with proceedings before the European Patent Office and in various European national courts.

Sam also has experience advising with soft intellectual property rights, advising clients in relation to infringement of design rights, and copyright infringement in music, sports broadcasting, and in user instructions.

Having studied chemistry at the University of Bath, Sam has a particular interest in the chemical and life sciences sectors, including the renewable and sustainable energy sector.

Sam joined Powell Gilbert in 2019.
