Jason is an IP litigator with experience in high-profile cross-border patent litigation, including SEP/FRAND licensing disputes. His dual qualification in law and physics enables him to grasp complex technical materials readily. He has acted for and against leading global conglomerates based in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe in a wide range of technical fields including semiconductors, consumer electronics, telecommunications, biometrics, cybersecurity, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals.

Jason is also fluent in both forms of Chinese.

Prior to joining Powell Gilbert in 2026, Jason had worked on the following key matters:

• Representing a semiconductor company in SEP/FRAND litigation in a multi-jurisdiction patent dispute (including UK proceedings).
• CPC v. Apple (Australia)– represented a non-practicing entity CPC in an infringement proceeding against Apple to enforce multiple patents directed to the provision of secure access to a resource or device using biometric data.
• Hanwha v. Jinko Solar (Australia)– represented a leading Shanghai-based global solar cell manufacturer and supplier Jinko Solar in a ‘bet the company’ litigation in defence of patent infringement claims and permanent injunction sought against it.
• Represented a leading Australian residential lift supplier in multiple litigation proceedings in relation to trade secrets, cybersecurity breaches and digital forensics.
• Advised a number of leading technology companies specialising in IoT and unmanned aerial vehicle products in relation to IP licensing and Australian defence export controls regulations.
• Advised a leading pharmaceutical company in relation to the protection of various types of targeted cancer drug treatment products.
